After a short while Peter realized
that they would never get ahead in a rural area of Alberta hoeing sugar beets,
so they made arrangements to move to Yarrow.
They shared the travel expenses with the Cornie Funk family. Cornie’s brother Henry had a trucking
business in Yarrow. Henry Funk owned a
covered truck and he came to Lethbridge to pick up his brother Cornie and his
wife Susie, daughter Betty, and Mrs. Funk's single sister, an old maid. Peter and Anna and their children ages 2, 3,
5, 6, 9, 16, and 20 were able to ride along with this family in the back of
their truck. They could not go through
the US because they did not have citizenship papers, so they went through the
Okanagan. This move took place in 1933.
